Some views of Lake Tekapo in the middle of a glacier in the Southern Alps

Phrenji explaining about the stoats, hares and possums all of which are considered pests and great efforts have been made to eradicate them to no avail.  They have a very creative use for possums--but more about that later.

Here were are at the bottom of the rocky hill we are about to climb.  At least we had ski poles to use as walking sticks.

This is from the top of the ridge.  Those little blobs at the bottom are our vehicles, a white 4WD van and the  jeep we were riding in.

Here we are, glad to be alive, wondering how we are going to get down, and even Warrick in the background seems to be giving it an OMG!  The water is Lake Tekapo, a glacial lake.  The shores are solid ice although it is difficult to see that even up close and personal.
